- Spend less time managing your bookkeeper.
Small by design.
SHALALA intentionally maintains a small recurring client roster. We would rather provide consistent bookkeeping to a limited number of businesses than build a high-volume bookkeeping operation.
When recurring capacity is full:
- New clients may join a waitlist
- Rescue projects may still be accepted where capacity allows
- New monthly clients may be paused until capacity becomes available
Your financial information does not belong in a website form.
The public SHALALA Fit Assessment is used only to understand whether your business fits our service model.
Keep sensitive records out of the form.
- No bank statements or banking passwords
- No credit-card numbers or SINs
- No tax documents or payroll records
- No other sensitive financial records
Sensitive bookkeeping documents are requested only after a client is accepted and onboarded using the approved secure bookkeeping workflow.
A few things
worth knowing.
Clear expectations from the start.
Who is SHALALA designed for?
Canadian service businesses using QuickBooks Online with relatively straightforward bookkeeping needs: generally up to 300 monthly transactions, five or fewer bank and credit-card accounts, primarily Canadian-dollar activity and no significant inventory.
Do you work with every type of business?
No. We focus on straightforward Canadian service businesses. Significant inventory, restaurants, complex e-commerce, construction job costing, trust accounting, cryptocurrency-heavy activity and specialized industry accounting fall outside our usual model. We assess fit before an engagement begins.
Can I call you?
SHALALA works entirely online and in writing. There is no telephone support. Clear written questions and exception lists let you respond on your schedule and keep a useful record of the conversation.
Do I need QuickBooks Online?
Yes. Our service is built around QuickBooks Online. If you use something else, you must be willing to migrate to QuickBooks Online; any migration needs and scope are confirmed in writing before work begins.
Do you fix messy QuickBooks files?
Yes. Bookkeeping Rescue addresses backlog, unreconciled accounts, duplicates, incorrect categories and unexplained balances. Projects start from $995, with a written quote based on your file and available records. A Rescue may be required before monthly service begins.
Do you prepare tax returns?
No. Income tax return preparation is outside our service scope. We organize accountant-ready bookkeeping records for your tax preparer.
Do you provide tax advice?
No. SHALALA does not provide tax advice or tax planning. GST/HST bookkeeping records are recordkeeping work; questions about tax treatment or obligations should go to your tax adviser.
Do you provide assurance?
No. We do not provide assurance, audits, reviews or compilation engagements. System-generated Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports are outputs of the bookkeeping records and carry no assurance or professional opinion.
Who supervises my bookkeeping?
SHALALA’s founder is a CPA. Routine bookkeeping processing is automated. Exceptions, reconciliations, unusual activity and items requiring accounting judgment are reviewed with CPA oversight before the bookkeeping period is completed. This does not mean every transaction is manually CPA-supervised.
Does AI do all of my bookkeeping?
No. Technology processes routine bookkeeping and identifies exceptions. CPA supervision remains part of the workflow, including exceptions, reconciliations and final review. AI does not provide tax advice, accounting opinions, assurance, professional judgment or financial advice.
How do I send financial documents?
Sensitive documents are requested securely after acceptance and onboarding through the approved bookkeeping workflow. Never submit bank statements, passwords, credit-card numbers, SINs, tax documents or payroll records through the public website form.
Do I need to attend meetings?
No. There are no discovery calls, recurring bookkeeping meetings or bookkeeping calls. Onboarding, requests and questions are handled online and in writing.
Why do you limit client capacity?
A small recurring roster helps us maintain consistent bookkeeping and manageable workflows. When capacity is full, new monthly clients may join a waitlist. Rescue projects may still be accepted where capacity allows.
What if my business is too complex?
We may decline the engagement or recommend another provider. We would rather tell you that our service is not a fit before you become a client.
