About this website
SHALALA provides services for businesses and learning for professionals. This website describes our business services, including managed bookkeeping, SHALALA Learn and SHALALA Spotlight. Bookkeeping is a separately scoped service for Canadian service businesses. Website content is general service information. It is not tax advice, legal advice, financial advice or a professional accounting opinion.
No engagement through the website
Submitting a fit assessment, sending an inquiry or receiving preliminary information does not create an engagement. Services begin only after acceptance, a written engagement agreement and the required onboarding steps. We may decline inquiries that do not fit our scope or available capacity.
Scope and pricing
Published prices describe businesses that fit the stated service model. Monthly pricing assumes complete and timely client information. Catch-Up Bookkeeping may be required before recurring service begins when otherwise workable books are behind. Catch-Up pricing depends on the number of months, transaction volume, account count and available records. Files requiring major historical reconstruction, unresolved prior-year issues, or accounting or tax interpretation fall outside SHALALA’s bookkeeping scope. Your written engagement agreement confirms the actual scope, pricing and service terms.
Monthly service policies
Standard monthly bookkeeping is month-to-month, without a minimum term or cancellation fee. Cancellation is requested in writing before the next service period begins and takes effect at the end of the current period. Started-period fees remain payable; prepayments for unstarted future periods are refunded. These policies apply to new monthly engagements agreed from October 2, 2026. Existing agreements and separately quoted catch-up work retain their agreed terms.
The transaction-counting policy and cancellation and handoff details form part of the standard scope presented before a new engagement is agreed. We confirm any scope or fee change in writing before additional charges.
Bookkeeping services only
Shalala Bookkeeping provides bookkeeping and recordkeeping services only. Services do not include assurance, audit, review, compilation, tax advice, legal advice or professional opinions. System-generated bookkeeping reports are outputs of the underlying bookkeeping records and do not provide assurance or an opinion on financial information.
Income tax return preparation, tax planning, CFO or strategic advisory services and other regulated professional opinion services are outside our service model. Payroll support is limited to bookkeeping journal entries based on reports supplied by the client’s payroll provider; payroll processing is not offered.
Communication
SHALALA offers an optional free 15-minute introductory video call to discuss bookkeeping needs and service fit. Booking or attending a call does not create an engagement. Ongoing bookkeeping communication is handled online and in writing; recurring bookkeeping meetings and telephone support are not included. Written replies depend on service fit, capacity and the information available.
Course seller and contact
The seller of SHALALA Learn courses is Peter Shalala, CPA, CA, trading as SHALALA. For course support, email cpa@shalala.ca.
SHALALA Learn
SHALALA Learn provides professional education, including JUDGMENT, TESTED. Accounting & Finance Edition. Cases and characters are educational scenarios. Course material supports learning and does not provide advice on a particular client, employer or transaction.
Course purchases and access
Review the product description and checkout before purchasing. A purchase of Module 1 is for that module only unless the product expressly states otherwise. It does not automatically include the other modules in the four-module program. Modules 1–4 are available individually and as the complete program. The product description and checkout identify the modules included in your purchase.
Delivery and payment details
The current individual-module and bundle offers are one-time purchases. Base prices are set in Canadian dollars (CAD). Thinkific also offers local-currency payment where available. Review the currency, total amount and any taxes shown at checkout before confirming payment.
Courses are delivered online in English through Thinkific, with video lessons, downloadable learning resources, assessment and reflection. You need an internet connection, a supported web browser and the ability to view videos and PDF files. Access is provided through your Thinkific account after payment is confirmed and enrollment is created. Contact cpa@shalala.ca if access does not appear.
Course access and refunds
For new Module 1 purchases from October 9, 2026, access lasts 365 days from purchase and enrollment. Download available learning resources and your completion certificate while you have access, and retain them for your records. This is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Access does not renew automatically.
Under the current offers, individually purchased Modules 2, 3 and 4 and the complete four-module bundle have no scheduled access expiry. The 365-day limit above applies to an individual Module 1 purchase, not to Module 1 accessed through the current bundle. Existing purchasers retain the access conditions offered when they bought.
For an individual module or the complete four-module bundle, you may request a full change-of-mind refund within 14 calendar days of purchase if none of the paid teaching lessons, assessments or reflections included in that purchase have been started. Visiting the sales page or account dashboard does not count as starting. For a bundle purchase, starting any included module means the bundle has been started. This condition does not restrict statutory cancellation rights or remedies. Email cpa@shalala.ca with your purchase email and order details. Do not include payment-card information. Course access ends when a refund is processed. Refunds are returned through the original payment method, with posting time depending on the payment provider.
If purchased content cannot be provided, we will work to restore access or offer a refund. Contact us promptly about access or delivery problems. The change-of-mind policy does not limit remedies for defective or undelivered services or any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Your statutory rights: The change-of-mind policy is additional to any cancellation rights and remedies that apply by law. Starting a lesson, opening a download or agreeing to these terms does not by itself remove a statutory right to cancel. We do not treat acceptance of these terms as consent to waive such a right. Contact cpa@shalala.ca to exercise a cancellation right or report a problem with the content or its delivery.
Canada: Where provincial or territorial consumer law gives you a cancellation or refund right, including for missing required information, non-delivery or a qualifying course contract, we honour that right and any required refund deadline. The 14-day and not-started conditions for our voluntary offer do not restrict those rights.
Australia: Where the Australian Consumer Law applies, your purchase comes with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded. For a major failure, you may choose the cancellation, refund, replacement or price-reduction remedy available under that law. For a problem that can be remedied, we will provide the required remedy without charge and within a reasonable time. Rights to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss also remain available.
New Zealand: Where the Consumer Guarantees Act applies, you may require a failure to be remedied within a reasonable time. If a service failure cannot be remedied, is substantial, or we refuse or fail to remedy it within a reasonable time, you may cancel and seek the refund available under the Act. The amount may reflect the value of services properly provided. Rights to recover eligible costs and loss remain available.
Requests under a statutory right are not subject to our voluntary 14-day window or not-started condition. We provide statutory remedies within the legal deadline that applies. We will not require you to accept course credit instead of a monetary refund where the law entitles you to your money back. Contact cpa@shalala.ca with your purchase details and the problem or cancellation notice. You may also give notice by any other method permitted by applicable law; you do not have to use our optional form.
Changes to our voluntary purchase conditions apply prospectively. Existing learners retain the access and purchase conditions offered when they bought their course. Bookkeeping cancellation policies do not apply to course purchases. Review each other module or bundle offer for its stated access and purchase conditions.

Assessment, completion and CPD
Follow the completion requirements stated in your enrolled module, including the assessment and reflection. Thinkific records course progress and assessment results. Certificates of completion are provided following successful completion under the stated requirements. A completion certificate is evidence of learning, not a professional designation or regulatory approval.
Your professional body determines whether learning qualifies for CPD or CPE, which category applies, and what evidence and reporting are required. No acceptance by a professional body is guaranteed. Retain your completion documentation and check the rules that apply to you.
Learning accounts and materials
Keep your login details private and use your own account. Do not share paid course access, copy or distribute course materials, or resell them without permission. You may retain materials expressly provided for download for your own learning and completion records. Respect third-party rights and do not submit confidential employer or client information in assessments or reflections.
Course delivery and checkout use Thinkific and its associated services. Their applicable platform terms and privacy notices also apply. If you experience an access problem or an error in completion documentation, contact us in writing so we can review it.
Business assessment and other services
The business assessment and bookkeeping fit check are separate inquiries. An assessment request helps us understand your financial operations, systems, processes and service needs. It is not an audit, assurance report, valuation or regulated professional opinion. Submitting either form does not commit you to paid work. Any proposed work, scope, fees, responsibilities and delivery arrangements must be agreed in writing before services begin.
Only services expressly offered and agreed are included. References to possible future services do not mean they are currently available. Separate written engagement terms govern accepted business services.
Responsible use
Provide accurate business-level information and use the website only for legitimate inquiries. Do not submit passwords, account numbers, SINs, tax documents, payroll records or other sensitive financial information through the public website. Do not attempt to interfere with the website or access information without authorization.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle website inquiries, business-service information, learning records and optional updates subscriptions. Client document exchange is arranged separately after acceptance and onboarding.
